8 Types of Fundraiser Events Designed for Women
According to a research study by Citi, women are more likely to give to charity than men. This makes them a valuable donor demographic for many organizations, especially those that serve and help women.
From experience, we know many women in our lives are givers. They give to causes they believe in, and they give their time to serve their loved ones, families, and charitable organizations like yours.
It’s no wonder why many nonprofits would love to grow their female donor base and provide entertaining and engaging fundraisers for them! We have ten ideas for exciting events designed especially for women.
What Makes a Successful Fundraiser for Women?
While we can’t speak for every woman and certainly do not want to stereotype women, there are many fun and exciting options for fundraising events women can enjoy together.
At the heart of every successful fundraiser for women is a sense of community, camaraderie, and “girl time.” Here are eight types of fundraiser events that could appeal to a female fundraising base.
A Women’s Brunch
Not as early as breakfast nor as late as lunch, brunch is a popular event for women to gather with their friends. It’s a relaxing and cozy way to catch up over trendy offerings like avocado toast and mimosas.
Hosting a brunch could be an excellent opportunity for women to gather and enjoy a weekend morning. Add extra special touches like fresh-cut flowers and a compelling guest speaker, and your brunch will become a beautiful memory.
Set up a photo booth so women can take pictures with their friends, post them directly on social media, and share their incredible time at your brunch.
Arts and Crafts Show
Handmade or homemade, shopping for unique gifts, decor, and food items can be an absolute delight. It’s also an opportunity to raise awareness for your organization in the community by featuring local artists and craftsmen (or craftswomen).
Charge a rental fee for vendors, or have your own booths selling refreshments such as baked goods, drinks, and snacks. You can even add a silent auction or baskets to raise more funds. Depending on how you organize it, it can be a morning or all-week event.
Garden Party
Engage donors in the spring or summer by hosting a garden party. Many local gardening clubs often hold fundraisers like this, selling seedlings and plants grown just for this sale.
If this type of garden sale isn’t up your alley, you could host an event in a garden venue. Surrounded by a gorgeous atmosphere, invite women to share a meal and stroll the grounds together. This can be as laid back or as formal as you would like.
Fancy Tea Party
Tea parties are elegant, fun, and ideal for all ages. With this option, you don’t have to offer a full meal but appetizers, pastries, and light fare. Search your recipe books for dainty cucumber sandwiches and crumpets.
Women can dress up at these parties in floral dresses, fancy hats, and even white gloves. If you want to make it family-oriented, you could make it a mother-daughter tea party with prizes for the best hats or outfits.
Charge an entry fee for the event, or make an appeal as guests sip their tea from fancy tea cups. From grandmother to granddaughter, this type of event will appeal to all generations and bring women together.
Ladies’ Night Out
As the hit disco song says, “It’s Ladies’ Night, and the feeling’s right.”
Think dancing, music, lights, cocktails, and karaoke! Give women an experience they might not have had since hanging out with their friends in college or being in their 20s.
Hire a DJ and invite women for a fun ladies-only night! Play music covering your demographics’ generational favorites. If you have the budget, you could elevate the experience even more by booking a band or local musician.
Make it a night to remember with a photo booth and fun refreshments! You can even create a VIP section to raise more funds.
Fashion Show
What is trending in the fashion world? What are hot styles at local shops and boutiques this year? Host a fashion show and invite all your female donors for a fun-filled catwalk experience.
This fundraiser event is excellent at any time of the year. There’s fashion to model for every single season. Local vendors can show off their best outfits with their models or women who raffled for a chance to model in the fashion show.
For added fun, allow women to shop the styles and mix and mingle after the show. If you have a local stylist or designer, invite them to participate in your event. They can answer style questions from the audience or even perform a live makeover.
Comedy Night
Depending on your organization, your donors probably have a particular sense of humor.
Hire a comedian for a women’s only comedy night and give the comedian insights into your donor base to craft unique jokes for them. Having specific humor will make this event a hoot for all who attend.
You will raise funds for your organization while providing a hysterical experience for your audience. Sell refreshments like freshly popped popcorn at the show or even add dinner to the event ticket cost.
Group Exercise in the Park
Group exercise can be a huge hit among women!
Trendy group exercises like Zumba, barre, pilates, and kickboxing could be a healthy way to raise funds. Simply hire an instructor, rent audio equipment, book a large open area in a park, and begin advertising for the event.
You can also make tickets available on-site at the event so women who see the event in the park can join on the spot.
This is an excellent fundraiser for inviting friends because it’s unique, healthy, and a fantastic way to get outside. You can even introduce online peer-to-peer fundraising for attendees to raise funds as sponsorship for the event.
