Signing up with your EIN
We’re passionate about providing excellent fundraising and event management software for nonprofits and are continually making improvements to increase security.
As an added level of security, we’ve added a step to our sign-up process for new customers that confirms the nonprofit status of the organization.
When creating an account, the first step will be to enter the name or EIN of your nonprofit:
You can search for your nonprofit by name:
Or by your Employer Identification Number (EIN):
What if my organization isn’t found in the search?
There are a few things you can try if your organization isn’t found in the search:
1. Search for Your Organization’s EIN
Many organizations have similar names. Since this search searches all US-based nonprofits, your organization may be buried in the results. Since each EIN is unique, it’s best to search by EIN.
Don’t know your organization’s EIN? Use the IRS’s Tax Exempt Organization Lookup tool to search for it.
2. Search for Your Organization’s Legal Name, not DBA
An Organization’s EIN is associated with their legal name, not necessarily with the name they operate under if they operate under a DBA (“Doing Business As”).
This could be another instance where you’d want to use the IRS’s Tax Exempt Organization Lookup tool to search for your organization’s EIN.
3. Exclude Spaces, Not 0’s
All EIN’s are formatted with a hyphen (dash) after the first two numbers (xx-xxxxxxx) and are a total of 9 numbers long. If you’re typing in the correct EIN but your organization isn’t appearing in the search, double-check how you’ve entered the number in the field. Be sure there are no spaces before, after, or in your entry. If that’s still not working, double-check that you have 9 numbers in your search (including any 0’s at the beginning/end). Your organization should appear with or without the hyphen.
4. Your Organization May Be Too New
If your Organization was granted tax-exempt status within the past year or two, it may not yet be added to the national database we use for our search. If that’s the case, click the “Contact Us” link below the entry form. We can manually confirm your Tax-Exempt Status.
5. Your Organization Might be Registered as a Nonprofit in Another Country
Is your Organization’s tax-exempt status granted by another country? Canadian not-for-profit organizations can use FundEasy, but will not appear in the search results. If that’s the case, click the “Contact Us” link below the entry form. We can manually confirm your Tax-Exempt Status.
Note that FundEasy currently serves US & Canadian non-profit organizations only.
6. Your Organization Might Not Be a Registered Nonprofit
Still waiting on your nonprofit status? Once you’ve received it, please come back!
FundEasy customers must be registered nonprofit organizations. Individuals and for-profit organizations are not currently able to use our products.
7. None of These Help Me!
Sorry about that! If you’re with a registered nonprofit and are having troubles, please click the “Contact Us” link below the entry form. We can manually confirm your Tax-Exempt Status and help you get started on your first event/fundraiser!
